“Its your turn, the master of ceremonies gives you the nod and announces that it is time for the best man speech!, you arise nervously from your chair, clear you throat and think to yourself… “I hope this goes well”

Making a best man speech can be a stressful process, its one of the pivotal events of the night and all eyes and ears will be turned and tuned toward you.

Putting together a wedding speech of any type is not an easy process. Getting the right blend of humor, emotion and wit just right is a daunting task. Get it wrong (as many do) and people will be cringing to themselves for years to come… “remember when so and so made that awful best man speech!”. However get it right and you will be the envy of your friends and admired by all the attendees at the wedding ceremony.

Here are a few quick tips to ensure your best man wedding speech is a success

If you nervous don’t make it too long, in fact don’t make it too long period, you don’t want a bored, yawning audience waiting for you to get off.
Having said that don’t make it too short, try not to make a “blink and you will miss it” speech.
Include humor, its a great ice breaker, most people will be wanting you to do well and will gladly help you out by laughing, this breaks the tension and you will settle into your task quickly.
Don’t be crude, as funny as it may be to your male friends, the audience (and the brides family for that matter) DO NOT want to know the details of drinking exploits or ex-girlfriends.
Take your time speak clearly, don’t rush and mumble.
Smile, don’t take it so seriously, if you stumble on your words, just smile and laugh it off, the audience will laugh with you, not at you.

Writing a speech is a daunting task, maybe you should consider getting a professionally written one for the day so you don’t let the wedding party down. So you’re the best man in a wedding. First of all, congratulations! You hold one of the top honors a wedding has to offer. Not only that, but you get the other honor of giving a speech at the wedding reception. If you’re not comfortable speaking in front of people, you might be a little anxious knowing that this coming up. Like everyone, you want to make sure you can present the best speech possible. Here are 3 simple tips to follow that will help you deliver an incredible and memorable speech:

1) Create Your Speech By Using An Outline

This might sound dumb (or very elementary), but doing this will give you an idea of how you can approach your speech. It will help you decide what you should talk about, what stories or ideas you can bring out, and what things you should keep to a minimum. By creating an outline, you will save yourself time when writing the actual speech itself.

2) Keep It The Right Length

What length is appropriate for a speech? Make it great, but not too short or too drawn out. A great speech should be able a good 5-10 minutes in length. Any longer and you will lose interest in the crowd. Shoot for somewhere in between the range above, and you’ll hold the attention of the crowd long enough to remember your speech.

3) Write Based On The Wedding Party

What do I mean by this? Is the bride/groom humorous, or more serious? Write your speech to the vibe of the wedding party. If they are humorous, try to include things that will make them laugh. If they are more emotional, include things that might be sentimental to them and touch their hearts. In other words, just go with the flow of their personality. Do that, and people will remember that speech forever!

Are you the best man in a wedding that’s on the way? If you don’t already have a speech prepared, you need to visit Best Man Wedding Speeches. Get prepared with several techniques and tactics to give a knock-out speech on the big day!

A wedding speech should express the same sentiments whether it’s a formal function being held in the Ritz or a family affair in the bride or the groom’s home. At a more formal function the father of the bride, the father of the groom and the best man usually speak. A wedding speech may be your moment to toast the couple in style, but generally there will be at least two toasts offered, so don’t feel like you have to fill lots of time. The reception will have lots of activity already planned, and you don’t want to be remembered as the guy who gave that incredibly long-winded, boring speech, do you? A wedding speech spoken by Bride or Groom following their wedding vows personalizes a marriage ceremony. Written out or straight from the heart, a wedding speech expresses your love and commitment to one another.

Speak from the Heart – If it means something to you, it will mean something to the audience. Don’t be afraid to get a little mushy. Speaking about the groom, the best man is allowed to get to some mild teasing but themes like drinking or ex girlfriends are not permissible. The best man should by no means represent the groom as a drunkard, loser, or a playboy.

Personalize your speech by mentioning the names of every person in the wedding party and saying one nice thing about each of them. People love to be complimented and this works well, especially focus on the bride and groom. Personal stories help connect with an audience. From your deep well of life reflect on three events that demonstrate how much your care for and love your wife.

Humor is a great way to cut through the sentimental while offering the bride and groom your best. So, how can you add the funny to your wedding speech? Humor is always a good way to get the party in good spirits and not only that, it will help ease the best man’s anxiety. If the best man sees his audience laughing he will pick up on their positive vibes and become in good spirits himself, which will only allow him to deliver his speech better.

Prepare yourself well by writing out your speech and practicing often. The best way to practice a wedding speech is to read it aloud in front of the mirror until you feel comfortable with the words. Speak clearly and slowly. Although you can have a small card to remember your points for the wedding speech, it looks rather put-on and takes away the essential charm of the emotions. Speak from your heart about the couple, touch on their strong characteristics, and mention the changes you’ve seen since the couple has met and you’ll be well on your way to delivering a memorable speech! If you get stuck, just look at the couple and tell them why you respect them or share some fond memories and then offer a toast. Speak a bit more loudly when you get to the anecdotal parts. Then, near the end, turn up your voice full volume.
